PROGRAMMING: Brent Cross Town Claremont Park Opening
I project managed the Minions Collective NBCUniversal and Central Saint Martins collaboration.
NBCUniversal wanted to reach teens with shareable content for the Minions film release in 2015.
Working with Ged Matthews, CSM Creative Producer, I conceptualised and proposed a fashion-performance collaboration which would meet the client brief. Students from the CSM Foundation: Fashion and Textiles course at CSM were briefed to design and create outfits inspired by the Minions. We then worked with choreographer Ivan Blackstock, set designer Garance Marneur and Performance Design and Practice graduates to create an immersive showcase event to present the collection.
My role was to oversee the collaboration, including the student and graduate design processes, casting and development of the performance, external and internal technical and film production teams. I worked closely with NBCUniversal and the CSM team throughout and managed the timeline, planning and budget for the live event.
The showcase was held at the CSM Platform Theatre, with invited guests taking a journey through the Minions mini worlds, before the outfits were unveiled in a live fashion-dance performance. The audience journey, music, performance and design for the event were all created to celebrate the mischievous, subversive, curious, unpredictable nature of the Minions.
This produced an inspiring environment where international vloggers and NBCUniversal could capture video content to share with their followers on YouTube.
